OUR MISSION: Remaking Home is a member-owned cooperative that helps Los Angeles County residents earn more, save more, and finance the construction of new micro-housing communities.
OUR SOLUTION: Remaking the way urban life is designed, to better suit our needs. Helping each other. Owning--yes, owning--micro housing. Working near where you live. Enjoying a simpler, less expensive life that gives you the freedom to pursue your passions.
Step 1 BECOME A MEMBER: Your membership fee powers the revolving loan fund that creates new jobs and businesses. Each candidate joins a Remaking Home Village (it’s a business incubator for a neighborhood in LA where they want to live and work). Building tiny houses on wheels, running a food service business, managing events, are just a few of the work opportunities available.
Step 2 USE THE VILLAGE MARKETPLACE: Members use their consumer demand to create more stable jobs, via our on-line marketplace. It’s like a having a cash-refund card for everything you spend money on, except that it helps you save up for your own home.
Step 3 LIVE IN TEMPORARY HOUSING: Members have the opportunity to save more rapidly by living in micro housing leased or owned by the co-op;
Step 4 DEVELOP MICRO HOUSING COMMUNITIES: Once each member has saved up a down payment and has a satisfactory earnings history he or she can participate in developing a mixed-use community, with each member owning (through a limited equity housing cooperative) one unit of micro-housing.
